Rory Banks batting at Roseburn Park v Murrayfield DAFS2 on 15th June

The city side batted first, and recorded a 60-run victory, Selkirk falling short in their innings despite vice-skipper Rory Banks hitting a gritty 49 off 51 balls, eventually being caught on the midwicket boundary.

Perhaps the most memorable moment of Sunday’s match came when Stuart Skeldon managed to stop a blistering cover drive from Murrayfield opener Todakar, injuring his hand in the process (at one stage it looked as if Stuart might have to retire to the sidelines for treatment). However, he bravely carried on and resumed his position in the field. The very next ball of Daniel Heard’s over saw Todakar hit another full-blooded drive towards Stuart, which this time he pouched without batting an eyelid. Cue wild celebrations by his Selkirk team-mates!

You just couldn’t keep Rory Banks out of the spotlight in Sunday’s game. Brought on to bowl after keeping wicket until Greg Fenton had finished his over allocation, Rory dismissed Murrayfield batter Olly Pickard with his very first delivery … in the process launching one of the bails into orbit. We’re not sure who got the bigger surprise, Rory or Olly!

It’s that man again! Rory Banks takes a catch off Daniel Heard’s bowling to dismiss Murrayfield opener Russell Beretta for a duck.
