During a well attended AGM held at the club last night Roger Arnold became the first President of Selkirk Cricket Club under the new constitution agreed in 2023. We are grateful for the members who gave up their time to attend the meeting last night and look forward to the ongoing support of our members in 2024.

During the meeting Roger outlined plans for the refurbishment of the lounge and bar facilities, recognising the importance of the environment we provide and the welcome we like to give our members and visitors. The meeting also heard about ambitious plans to upgrade the cricket facilities in Selkirk. Members wanting to know more should speak with Roger or club secretary for 2024, Neil Gentleman.
We were unable to confirm the new club captain for 2024 in lieu of a players meeting but the chair noted the gratitude of the club to outgoing captain Greg Fenton for his dedication to the role and the ongoing inspiration he provides to those around him. Also stepping down from office was John Smail who is currently pursuing other passions following a dedicated and indefatigable couple of years as vice-chair and club secretary.
There were no additional members added to the committee last night but the chair stressed the importance of succession planning and the need to encourage those with a connection to and fondness for the club to step forward if they can. The next committee meeting will take place on the 2nd of February and all members are encouraged to attend.
